The City of Stirling in partnership with the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) is currently reviewing the Stirling City Centre Structure Plan that was adopted in 1995. This review provides an opportunity to establish a current, comprehensive and robust guiding document to ensure that Stirling achieves its full potential as a city centre.
The structure plan area includes: the Stirling Train Station, Innaloo Shopping Centre, the Cinema Complex, the Osborne Park Hospital, Heartha Road Landfill Site, Striling Civic Precinct and a portion of the Osborne Park Industrial Area (see the map on page 1).
The structure plan will guide the study area as it transitions from a largely suburban, car based locality to a mixed use vibrant and pedestrian/cycle friendly city centre that attracts people to live/work in the area.
The area is undergoing a major transformation with about half a billion dollars worth of large scale projects currently underway or in the pipeline. This will see a dramatic change to the character of the area from a suburban shopping centre to a mixed use city centre.
Community involvement will be crucial in successfully developing this plan and the City of Stirling and the WAPC will initiate a number of engagement processes to gather feedback, starting with this survey.
This is your opportunity to have a say on the future of this area. Your input is valuable as it helps us to understand the community’s hopes and vision for Stirling as becomes a city centre. Please feel free to answer honestly as all information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
This survey is just the starting point of the community engagement process – keep an eye out in local papers and the project website for further opportunities to have your say.
Thank you for your participation; your contribution is valued and greatly appreciated.
